Camp Day, Staff Introductions & Training

Writer's picture: Kate DadourianKate Dadourian

With summer temperatures soaring, we're getting a nice preview of the season, and camp is just days away! We've completed most of our staff training and are busy moving and setting up all our camp equipment this week. As a camp director, this time of year feels akin to the anticipation of the holiday season - I LOVE IT!

We hope to see everyone at our Camp Day THIS Saturday, June 29th from 1-3 pm. Join us for family fun with activities like our inflatable slip n slide, archery, carnival games, and more! You'll meet our small but mighty team – Ella, Heidi, Jason, and me! Bring bathing suits and towels if you want to enjoy the slip n slide (you really do, it’s awesome!).

Who Are We?

ELLA – Senior Camp Counselor

Ella is a rising freshman at the University of Pittsburgh and will be studying Nursing. In her free time, Ella loves hiking, swimming, nature and enjoys spending time with friends. A fun fact about Ella, she played field hockey for 6 years. Ella is excited about camp and can't wait for this summer!

HEIDI – Senior Camp Counselor

Heidi is a rising junior at the University of Virginia where she is pursuing a degree in Economics. In her free time, Heidi enjoys playing pickleball, going to the beach, and spending time with friends. As a past camper herself, Heidi is excited to help bring the camp experience she loved to campers and families at Camp Rippling Brook!

JASON – Senior Camp Counselor

Jason is a rising junior at Towson University and is studying Applied Mathematics. In his free time, he enjoys being outside, hanging with his friends, and going to the beach. His hidden talent is juggling and he cannot wait to have an awesome summer at Camp Rippling Brook!

KATE – Founder & Director

I have had a chance to talk to every family and I hope I have been able to convey my passion and the belief I have in the power of camp. Rippling Brook is a dream I’ve had since I was a child and I’m so excited to continue growing this dream.

Staff Training

As a licensed camp in the state of Maryland, we train our staff extensively in emergency procedures, programming, operations, child abuse prevention, health care, behavior management, and more. We are required to have at least two staff trained in CPR/First Aid on-site when campers are present (all of our staff are certified). I am also trained to administer medications. Our pre-camp training includes over 20 hours of preparation to ensure a safe and fun environment for your campers.

Behavior Expectations

Our staff will observe and guide camper behavior daily. Please review our Code of Conduct with your camper (available on your camper portal as a signed form). We strive to create a safe and positive environment, expecting everyone to be honest, positive, open-minded, respectful, responsible, and kind.

Communication

This email wraps up our weekly email series. The next email you receive will be our last minute reminders the week before your camper attends camp (you may also receive this email today if your camper joins us next week). During camp, we will regularly communicate through daily emails to keep you updated on camp activities.

Recap and Upcoming

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thanks!
