SUMMER CAMP

SUMMERS THAT LAST A LIFETIME

Prepare for camp

We want to make sure you feel ready for day one of camp. After you register, we don't just wait until you show up on the first day camp. We tell you all about our staff before the summer with introductions, send a series of emails to prepare you for camp, have a Camp Day to welcome your whole family to being a part of our family, and so much more. Communication is really important to us! Don't forget to also check out our FAQs or our Parent Resource Guide.

So, we start with the basics...

What to Pack for Camp

Please label and pack everything in a backpack to be carried around throughout the day.

  • Water Bottle

  • Lunch

  • Snacks

  • Bathing Suit for water play (or wear to camp)

  • Water shoes for water play

  • Towel

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug Spray (highly recommended)

If your camper is going to come to camp in a bathing suit, don't forget to pack a change of clothes. Remember that we will be active and camp can get a bit dirty; please wear clothes that can get messy.

Optional items to include:

  • Hat

  • Sunglasses

  • Rain Coat

  • Light Jacket/Sweatshirt

  • Special Event and/or spirit day items (calendar to be released closer to camp)

Medications:

All medication should be checked in with camp staff prior to camp or during drop off. Please do not pack your camper’s medications in their belongings. All prescription medication brought to camp must be in the original container, have written orders (Medication Administration Authorization form) signed by a medical professional,
include the camper’s name, dosage, and time to be administered. All medication, including over-the-counter medications, must be checked in and dispensed by the appropriate staff. Medications may be picked up at the end of the week or as requested by the family. Any medication not claimed within a week is required to be disposed of properly by Maryland State law.

Emergency Medications:

If a camper requires emergency medications, such as EpiPens or inhalers, our staff will keep that on them throughout the day. The medication will follow the camper around from one activity to the next, always within easy access of the  camper. Self-administration must be indicated on the written orders (Medication Administration Authorization form) and authorized by the prescriber.

Getting Your Camper Excited!

Share the excitement of camp with your camper. A prepared camper is the best kind of camper when it comes to drop off on the first day; it will definitely make it smoother as a parent to say goodbye to a happy camper than a nervous camper.

There are so many ways to get excited about camp. Start adjusting your camper early to the new camp experience by involving your camper in the decision about camp, talk about camp and the exciting things we will do, have your camper pack their bag for camp. We communicate what to expect but it can still be hard for a camper to be dropped off at a new place for the first time. Join us during our Camp Day or Open Houses (we love getting questions from campers too!) to start your camper getting comfortable and excited about Camp early.
